What are your worship services like?

You have your own style, and at Shelbyville First Baptist, you’ll find a church service that’s just right for you. Our Contemporary Service starts at 8:30 AM and features casual dress (even the pastor doesn’t wear a tie), contemporary music, and an informal style. Our Traditional Service offers a more traditional worship experience and begins at 11:00 AM. Whatever your style, you’ll find a spiritual connection that will enrich your week and your life.

What should I wear when I attend?

Some who attend are comfortable in casual attire (in the summer, you’ll see lots of shorts) while others are more comfortable with more traditional clothing (coats and ties or dresses).  Please feel free to come “as you are.”

Do you have childcare?

Childcare is extremely important to us at Shelbyville First Baptist. We have a trained, professional childcare team who serves in this important area in an effort to provide consistent care week after week. We have discovered that children do better when they see smiling, familiar faces.

What about Bible Study classes?

We have Bible Fellowship classes that meet on Sundays at 9:45 AM. These classes are available for all ages and provide a great opportunity to study the Bible and get to know people on a personal basis. We have classes for all ages-from the youngest child to the oldest adult. At the adult level, we have several different styles of classes so you can find a class just right for you.

What denomination is Shelbyville First Baptist?

Our church is associated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The Southern Baptist Convention consists of approximately 40,000 churches that cooperate together in a world-wide effort of missions. It is the largest association of Christian churches in Kentucky and in America. One out of every 10 churches in America is affiliated with the SBC (40,000 churches and 15 million members – more than most other denominations combined).

How can I become a member?

There are two basics ways you can become a church member.

  • You can become a member by making a first-time commitment to Christ and then being baptized.
  • You can become a member by transferring your church membership from another church if you have already made a first-time commitment to Christ and have been baptized by immersion.

Feel free to give us a call at 502-633-1317 (office) if you have questions. Thanks for your interest.
